The pitch for duct sealing

One of the most surprising statistics in the air conditioning industry is that 25-40% of the air generated by the average homeowner's HVAC system is leaked out and never even makes it to the living space. That amount of air leakage can lead to all kinds of problems: high energy bills, hot and cold spots in the home, even lower indoor air quality. Aeroseal® duct sealing was invented to help reduce or even eliminate those issues by sealing many of the existing leaks in your duct system. It is so effective that it was named by the Department of Energy as one of the 23 most beneficial technologies available to American consumers that has come out since the agency was created.

Aeroseal® works by blowing a fog-like sealant through your duct system. As the sealant travels through your ducts, it fills many of the holes and gaps it runs into, quickly reducing the amount of air leaking from your duct system. Plugging those holes results in things like:

  • Reduced energy usage. A well-sealed duct system allows your HVAC system to cool or heat your home more efficiently, thus reducing energy usage (and therefore utility bills). It may even increase the lifespan of your equipment by reducing usage. Depending on how leaky your ducts are, the savings can be substantial.
  • Fewer hot/cold spots in the home. A common homeowner complaint is that some rooms are just not as well conditioned as others. Typically, that means that the air coming out of the HVAC system is just not making it to the vents that are furthest away. Sealing your duct system with Aeroseal® allows more air to actually make it to the end of the duct run and often reduces or even eliminates problems with hot/cold spots.
  • Cleaner indoor air. Holes in a duct system not only allow conditioned air out, they allow dirty air in. Depending on where your ducts are located, that could mean insulation, dust, allergens, bugs, etc are making their way into your duct system. Sealing those holes keeps nasty air out and can help improve indoor air quality.

Franklin is one of less than 1,500 Aeroseal® dealers in the world and we've been factory trained in the correct process. It truly is a revolutionary product and we'd love to put it to work at your home to help reduce your energy bills, increase your comfort, and improve your indoor air quality.

What about duct cleaning?

As you can probably imagine, all kinds of stuff gets trapped in your ducts over the years. Dust, allergens, hair, bugs, you name it. Unfortunately, that's the air you and your family breathe every day. Duct cleaning removes much of that nasty stuff from your duct system, resulting in cleaner air for you and your family. In addition, it makes the Aeroseal® sealing process more effective because cleaner ducts allow for better sealing.

FAQ

Our Duct Clean & Seal package is $2,995 plus tax and includes both duct cleaning and Aeroseal® duct sealing for one HVAC system.
Yes, duct sealing is eligible for tax credits via the Inflation Reduction Act. You can get a tax credit for 30% of the cost of the job (up to a max of $1,200 a year). Duct cleaning is not eligible for tax credits.
Yes. Duct sealing in particular is remarkably effective, mostly due to the fact that the average person's duct system leaks a massive amount of air. How much? According to the US Department of Energy Consumer Report, 25-40% of the air your HVAC system generates leaks out, never even reaching your living space. Obviously that causes all kinds of problems: high energy bills, hot and cold spots in the home, even lower indoor air quality. Aeroseal® helps reduce or even eliminate those issues by sealing many of the existing leaks in your duct system. The remarkable effectiveness of Aeroseal® duct sealing is why it was named by the Department of Energy as one of the 23 most beneficial technologies available to American consumers that has come out since the agency was created.
A big reason we bundle duct cleaning and duct sealing is that it's recommended by the manufacturer of Aeroseal®. In order for the sealant to fill the holes in your duct system, it has to stick first. Cleaning the duct system prior to sealing is the best way of increasing those odds (not to mention it being good for your air quality). Because of that, we only offer duct cleaning as a bundle with duct sealing.
